Chilly has worked his way to the top of his profession. He is widely known as the best soup in Soupville. But life is more than soup alone. Chilly decides he wants to learn how to play music. And learn to play music he does.

His pal Egg Drop Sue helps him shop for a musical instrument. He finds a piano and learns to play. Then, to his surprise, Chilly’s friends want to join him and start a band. Everything is great until his friends, Walt de Walrus, Silver Spoon, the singing Penguin Sisters, and Cheddar Cheese, find Chilly will only play one song.

The band splits up and Chilly is alone with his piano. But then it gets worse. The piano notes refuse to play. Chilly’s piano is silent. He turns to Egg Drop Sue, and as she so often does, she saves the day. Sue reaches out to her friend Melody Maker. Melody is quick to help. She has a heart-to-heart with the blue notes, (blue because they are sad). She and Sue have a meeting with Chilly and help him understand there is more to music than “The Muffin Man.”

Melody Maker suggests music and soon the band is back together playing music and enjoying their friendship.
